I hope Alex Michaelides keeps writing! This was my first book by him but I will be reading The Maidens soon! The first sentence had me pulled in, it grabs your attention and makes you just want to know more.
Alicia is silent, she has devoted herself to silence for a long time and no one knows why. Her silence catches the public's attention, her art becomes more popular and the prices skyrocket. One evening her husband Gabriel returns home late from a fashion shoot, and Alicia shoots him five times in the face, and then never speaks another word. But a psychotherapist is determined to get her to talk and unravel the mystery of why she shot her husband and takes him down a twisting path into his own motivation.
A good thriller is one that brings you in, it is one that makes you guess and keeps you guessing. This book kept me guessing and just when I thought I had it figured out, it took a turn and made me realize how wrong I was.
I would recommend this book to anyone who needs a thriller to read. If you like asylums and mysteries, this book will give you what you need. It will also take you on a journey into a wild ride.
